The aromatic profile
Colombard charms with a fresh, exuberant nose: grapefruit, passion fruit, lime and a vegetal note of boxwood, close to sauvignon. On the palate, it is lively and crisp, with lovely thirst-quenching acidity.
Structure, terroir and table
Naturally acidic and productive, it produces light dry whites best drunk young. The historic base of the eaux-de-vie of Gascony (armagnac) and Charente (cognac), it now makes up the fresh whites of Côtes de Gascogne and features in some Bordeaux whites. Ideal as an aperitif, with seafood and salads.
