Fleurie — terroir, soils & grape varieties

Fleurie is a red Beaujolais cru made from Gamay. Recognised as an appellation of origin in 1936, its geographical area is limited to the commune of Fleurie.

Slopes facing the Saône

The vineyards lie in northern Beaujolais, between Villefranche-sur-Saône and Mâcon. Backed by the Monts du Beaujolais, vines occupy sometimes steep slopes overlooking the Saône plain.

Granite and sandy soils

Fleurie's soils are predominantly granite and sand. Plots occupy differing positions on the commune's slopes.
