Quincy — terroir, soils & grape varieties

A vineyard on the terraces of the Cher

In the Champagne berrichonne, between Bourges and Vierzon, Quincy stretches across two communes — Quincy and Brinay — on a plateau on the left bank of the Cher, facing east. Devoted solely to dry white wine from sauvignon, it is one of the first appellations recognised in the Central Loire.

Terroir and style

Quincy's distinctiveness lies in its soil: a Kimmeridgian marl plateau covered with clay-silica alluvium — sands and pebbles — deposited by the Cher. These well-drained, warm, poor terraces, sitting above a deep marl water reserve, give sauvignon fine, fruity whites, with notes of citrus, white flowers and pepper, to be enjoyed within their first four to five years.
