Touraine Noble Jouéterroir, soils & grape varieties

Revived at the southern gates of Tours, Noble-Joué is a historic "vin gris": a pale, delicate rosé blended from three pinots. Once prized at the royal court, it is today a rare and refined curiosity.

A Revived Vin Gris

Across five communes in the southern suburbs of Tours, Noble-Joué nearly disappeared before being revived by a handful of winegrowers and regaining AOC status in 2001. It is a "vin gris": a very pale rosé with silvery glints, blended from the three pinots — meunier, gris and noir.

Terroir and Style

The vineyard occupies a plateau of clay-limestone soils resting on the lacustrine limestone of the Champeigne tourangelle. Vinified by direct pressing, Noble-Joué gives a delicate, fresh, pale-hued rosé, served as an aperitif or with light dishes — charcuterie, fish, spiced cuisine. A heritage rarity, best discovered young.
