Bandol — terroir, soils & grape varieties

Bandol is a Var appellation whose terraced vineyards open onto the Mediterranean, south of the Sainte-Baume massif.

Vineyards facing the sea

Bandol's vineyards spread across eight communes in Var, in a natural amphitheatre opening onto the sea. Clay-limestone soils and terraces known as restanques characterise the landscape.

An appellation recognised in 1941

The Bandol appellation was recognised by the decree of 11 November 1941.
