Fronton — terroir, soils & grape varieties

Fronton produces red and rosé wines in south-western France. Négrette is the main variety in this appellation north of Toulouse.

The Tarn terraces

The vineyards are divided between Haute-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne. Vines occupy the Tarn's alluvial terraces around twenty kilometres north of Toulouse.

Recognition since 1975

The Côtes du Frontonnais appellation was recognised in 1975. It took the name Fronton in 2005. Négrette, historically grown in the South-West, remains central to its identity.
