From hills to coast
Hérault forms an amphitheatre facing the Mediterranean, from the Cévennes and Montagne Noire to the coastal lagoons. Hillside schist, limestone soils and alluvial terraces contribute to its diversity.
From vin de pays to PGI
Vin de pays de l'Hérault was recognised in 1968. The term protected geographical indication replaced vin de pays in 2009. The Fédération héraultaise des IGP is responsible for defending and managing this geographical indication.
